I've been having to use Singularity ever since, even though it lacks a lot of convenient building tools. To me, this bug appeared overnight, from switching from one viewer to the updated version, and it's always been a big nuisance. I've just been wondering, assuming that many content creators use a Mac, why this hasn't been reported by legions of Mac users before. The bug can be reproduced on my 2010 MacBook Pro and my 2013 iMac, both running OS X Mavericks, using 5 different mice, including types that have been manufactured by Apple, Microsoft, Logitec and Hama. The problem is demonstrated in this video: That's why I have been using Singularity ever since that bug showed up. The first thing to try if your Mac is unresponsive is checking if an app has frozen, as sometimes this can also lock up your Mac. I'm a content creator, and a responsive mouse wheel is essential for creating content. If your computer has really gone rogue, you may have to hold this 3-key-combination down for a few seconds until you hear your Mac power down. These three keys will do the same thing as the power button. CONTROL + OPTION + EJECT (a key located above the Delete key, next to F12). For over a year now, my mouse wheel has been unresponsive on both the official Linden Lab Second Life viewer and the Firestorm viewer. This option uses the holy 3-key-trifecta to restart your Macbook. Somewhat of a letdown, the scripted sequences feel more like the design team was struggling for ideas. Armada II offers only three campaigns, including the Federation, Klingons, and Borg. Memorable sequences abounded, from the time you had to slither you're way through a nebula-infested blockade as Worf, or the ambush missions where stealth played a more important role than outright combat. It's a strange twist that the single-player campaign is not nearly as interesting as the arcade-like gameplay of the original, released about two years ago. Besides that, you'll also resolve a new Federation crisis with those nasty Borg, power more ships and command two new races, and compete against other Trek fans in a highly improved multiplayer environment. In the skirmish mode you can even blow their cargo ships off the face of the universe. Wham, see you in the next rerun, ya hairball!Īnd while this is not exactly the plot for the new Next Generation-era real-time strategy game, Star Trek: Armada II, you do encounter the annoying species occasionally. In fact, give me one day as a Federation Admiral and I'd photon torpedo them all back to their homeworld. Heck, I'd rather hob-knob with the Borg than associate with those furry excuses for a life form. Not only do they sound like nasally twelve-year old girls, but they look like rats on a bad hair day. Who needs 'em? Stinking bottom-dwellers of the universe. OmniPage's $449 Ultimate version adds speech and document-repository features.ĪBBYY FineReader 15 is available for download on both Windows and macOS systems. For OCR, FineReader's closest rival is Kofax OmniPage at $149 (perpetual) for the Standard Version. That said, Kofax, unlike FineReader, includes a full-text indexing feature for fast searching. Other powerful PDF apps with perpetual licenses include Kofax Power PDF Advanced at $179 and Nitro Pro at $159, but they can't match FineReader's feature set. Note that Adobe Acrobat Pro boasts the deepest feature set and closely integrates with Adobe's cloud services and apps, too. Best Hosted Endpoint Protection and Security SoftwareĪdobe, in contrast, sells the current versions of Acrobat DC only by monthly or annual licenses, although you can still buy perpetual licenses of the 2017 version for $299 (basic version) or $449 (Pro version). It has its own built-in security features to help keep bad guys out of your network, doesn't require an IT certification to manage. Google says OnHub automatically configures itself for your network and then monitors what's happening so it can dynamically change Wi-Fi channels to give you the best performance. Google's OnHub handles your Wi-Fi network and smart home The OnHub bundles together a Wi-Fi router, smart home device bridge, Bluetooth Smart Ready, and a network management system in a cylinder packed with antennas and enough smarts to help keep your network in top shape-and it sounds like a really great idea that Apple should've already jumped on. Google wants to be your home network's one-stop-shop with its just announced OnHub. Note that files downloaded from these pages do not install any new/legitimate versions of Adobe Flash Player - they simply install browser hijackers, adware or multiple PUAs. Typically, these scam pages download a file called " AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller.dmg". The other pop-up windows states that Adobe Flash Player is out of date, but also does not include the latest security updates and cannot be used (until visitors download and install an updated version). When opened, websites of this type display a pop-up window claiming that Adobe Flash Player is out of date and encouraging visitors to update it. Browsers usually open websites of this type due to PUAs that are already installed. In any case, never download or install software or files from these websites. In some cases, they install malicious software including ransomware, Trojans, or other high-risk malware. These fake installers are commonly designed to install multiple PUAs. What is "Latest version of Adobe Flash Player"?ĭisplayed by various scam websites, "Latest version of Adobe Flash Player" is a deceptive message employed to trick visitors into using a fake Adobe Flash Player installer, which actually installs a potentially unwanted application (PUA) such as, for example, a browser hijacker or adware-type app. This is also a great opportunity for students with no industry experience to familiarize themselves with various tools used in the PLC world. In most cases, this is sufficient to test the code and make sure the SCADA clients are able to receive/send data from/to PLC.įor anyone without access to PLC hardware during development, or to save the hassle of wiring the PLC this is an excellent alternative. RSLogix 5000 Emulator software acts as a PLC CPU, it does not have any input/output modules.RSLinx software can also be used for connecting RSLogix 5000 Emulator and a SCADA client such as FactoryTalk. RSLinx software is used for setting up topics to facilitate communication between RSLogix 5000 Emulator and RSLogix 5000. RSLogix 5000 software is used for creating a project, writing a program, and testing it.Some of those applications include RSLogix 5000 Emulate, RSLinx, RSLogix 5000. This tutorial covers the various software applications needed to set up an emulator and how to configure them. In most cases using an emulator can be a very good alternative to spending a fortune on replicating the hardware test setup at home. That freedom and flexibility come with their own challenges when there is PLC hardware required for developing and testing new programs. With the pandemic changing the nature of the way teams collaborate to develop new products, work from home is becoming increasingly common. However, I can see this is the way things are going, and I can see EA is squandering this opportunity.Ī good litmus test is this: Given the behavior of the competition, would Valve need to change Steam in any way in order to avoid losing sales or market share? If anything, Origin just makes Steam look that much more attractive. I say this as someone who isn’t even all that keen on digital distribution and would prefer a market based on physical copies. It could be a great opportunity for EA and gamers. The time and money put into Origin are considerable. In short, Origin needs to get its act together, quickly. But I find it maddening when a company does so to their own ruin. I can understand (but not condone) when a company acts with contempt for their customers in service of their bottom line. So, my column this week is mostly preaching to the choir, but there’s always this mad, delusional hope that some of it will sink in. If you have a grid in your layout where 10 thumbnails fit nicely across on a regular desktop computer monitor, those thumbnails would have to be nearly microscopic to fit 10 across on an iPad or iPhone. This is not only achievable but the sort of details you will encounter during ur time using Responsive web design. I think a good example would be a web page that is used for computers and mobile phones, wherein the links in the top menu would be more workable repositioned as a vertical list, rather than a horizontal bar going across. Responsive web design empowers you to produce web pages that are independent of the viewable area. Primarily achieved using media queries which is code language. This is normally used in web layouts responsive web design can go well beyond layouts. In lamens terms, a website built to be responsive, takes note of the height and width of the screen (actually, the viewable area is usually a browser window, as in Internet Explorer), and adjusts the web page layout to fit the viewable area appropriately (according to what the web designer or creative director deem appropriate). What is responsive web design? In essence it is when the design of the website responds to the dimensions of the screen. |
